How Much Does a Custom Kitchen Cost in Montréal? Real 2026 Prices
The short answer. Custom cabinetry and countertops for a Montréal kitchen start at approximately $15,000 and can reach $60,000 or more, depending on the size, materials and scope. This is not an all-inclusive price for a complete kitchen renovation. Most of the kitchens we completed in 2025 landed between $12,000 and $35,000. A galley kitchen in a condo and an open-plan kitchen with a full island are not the same project, and no honest single number covers both. The table records indicative prices published in August 2026 for cabinetry, countertops and custom components, in Canadian dollars. It does not cover every part of a complete renovation or every product collection. Confirm current availability, inclusions and taxes in a written quote for your measured layout.
What actually drives the price
In our shop, in this order:
- The door material. This is the biggest lever by a wide margin. The same kitchen layout in two different door materials can differ by thousands. To compare door options, see our guide to MDF, melamine and thermofoil cabinets.
- Hinges and slides. The hardware you touch fifty times a day. It is also the part people are most surprised to learn is a real line item.
- Installation. Expert installers cost more, and this is not a place to save. A perfect cabinet installed badly is a badly installed kitchen.

Cabinetry is shown per linear foot and countertops per square foot. Ask how each quantity is measured and whether the quote includes fabrication, cutouts, edges, delivery and fitting. One thing almost everyone forgets to budget for is appliance installation. We do that ourselves, so you do not need to find and pay a separate person for it. The appliances are yours to buy; getting them in and working is ours.
How to spend less without regretting it
If your existing cabinet boxes are sound, refacing is the cheapest sensible way to lower the price. You keep the structure and replace the doors, hinges and slides, which is where most of the visible quality lives anyway. The saving we would talk you out of: changing only the handles. It is the upgrade that most often disappoints, because it changes the one thing nobody was looking at while leaving the doors, hinges and slides exactly as tired as they were.
How long it takes
- Design stage: confirm the measurement, drawing and approval dates for your scope.
- Production: confirm the production slot after plans, materials and appliances are approved.
- Countertop: final templating follows fitted, level cabinets; fabrication, fitting and connections need agreed appointments.
- Quote validity: use the expiry date stated on your written proposal.
What our price actually means
This is the part worth reading twice, because it is the part that is hardest to compare between shops.
A reliable comparison uses the final drawing revision and a written list of inclusions, exclusions and allowances. Ask how changes to selections, scope or discovered site conditions will be approved and priced before additional work proceeds.
The deposit is 50 percent. The warranty is ten years on doors only. We are a medium to high quality shop and we would rather say that plainly than compete with the cheapest quote in the city.

How long from deposit to a finished kitchen?

Will the final invoice match the estimate?
Compare the invoice with the signed scope and any documented changes. Ask the project team to explain allowances and the approval process for additional work before accepting the proposal.
