Green and white kitchen cabinets in Pointe-Claire, finished in gold

They walked into our showroom a summer ago, before the financing was ready. This July they came back. The wall came down, the island grew, and the kitchen was handed over two weeks later.

The project

A year to start, two weeks to finish

The owners first came to the showroom a summer ago. Their refinancing was not ready, so the drawings waited, without pressure, until this year. When they came back, the answer to their one request, more storage, turned out to be structural: the wall came down, the island grew with one end anchored where that wall had stood, and the cabinets ran to the ceiling. Two colours carry the room, glossy white thermofoil and matte sage green, on 16 mm melamine boxes. Gold finishes the sentence: the sink, the faucet, every pull. Drawn in our own office, built in our own Saint-Laurent workshop, installed two weeks after the green light.

Questions about this project

Questions about this Pointe-Claire green-and-gold kitchen

Is a green kitchen island a good idea?

It is one of the safest ways to bring colour into a kitchen. Keeping the perimeter glossy white and giving only the island a matte sage green keeps the room bright, keeps the colour to one replaceable element, and gives the gold hardware something to play against. Our guide to custom kitchen cabinets in Montréal covers how finishes and colours get chosen.

How much does a custom kitchen cost in Pointe-Claire and the West Island?

There is no honest single number, because a kitchen is priced by what is in it. The main drivers are the linear feet of cabinetry, the box material, the door material, the countertop, the hardware, and how much of the appliance run is integrated. This kitchen is a single wall with an island, 16 mm melamine boxes, thermofoil fronts and Vicostone quartz on every surface. We measure the room, draw it, and give you a written price. The visit and the quote are both free, and our planning guide explains what to decide before you ask for one.

How long does a custom kitchen take from design to installation?

This one was two weeks from the green light to the handover. The year that passed before it was the clients waiting on their refinancing, not the build. A normal sequence is a showroom meeting, an on site measure, drawings you approve, fabrication in our Saint-Laurent workshop, then installation. Our article on how a kitchen installation runs walks through the days on site.

What is Vicostone Beryl quartz?

Beryl is an engineered quartz by Vicostone with a soft white ground and light grey marble style veining. It is non porous, never needs sealing, and here it runs across the counters, the island top and the full height backsplash, so the gold sink sits in one continuous surface. Our comparison of kitchen countertop materials puts quartz next to quartzite, Dekton and porcelain.

Are glossy thermofoil doors a good choice for a kitchen?

Thermofoil is a vinyl film heat formed over a shaped MDF door. Because the face is one continuous seamless skin, there are no joints or grain to collect grease, and it wipes clean with a cloth. It holds colour well in both gloss and matte, which is why the same material carries the glossy white perimeter and the matte green island here. The one rule is to keep it away from an unvented heat source, so a wall oven and a hood get proper clearance, exactly as drawn.

Can a wall come down during a kitchen renovation?

Often, yes, and it changed everything here. Removing the wall let the island grow with one end anchored where the wall had stood, and opened the kitchen to the rest of the floor. The structure is verified first, then the new layout is drawn in AutoCAD so you see the gain on paper before demolition day.

What warranty comes with a Limakdéco kitchen?

Our cabinet doors are covered by a 10 year warranty. Countertops, hardware and fixtures keep their own manufacturer coverage, which we pass on to you at the end of the project. In this kitchen the Blum and Richelieu hardware carries its suppliers’ warranty. You can see more finished rooms on our projects page.
